About Us

In 1946 two young Hardeman County educators were offered an opportunity to purchase a funeral home that served the Hardeman County community. Lorenzo Miller and Ned Rawls saw an opportunity to help and took advantage of it. They purchased the Dixie Funeral Home to offer the community affordable, dignified, respectful and quality funeral service. Upon purchase of the business they hired a very competent staff that included Jerome (Mr. Joe) Boyd, John Archie Williams, Roy Buntyn and later, Willie D. Turner and Ben "Tip-light" Murrell. "The Dixie" is honored to have serviced many families in Hardeman and surrounding counties.

In 1996 the Lord called Professor Rawls home and in 2005 Professor Miller followed. After the death of Prof. Miller, Michael Miller, JD became the on-site manager, licensed funeral director and embalmer.

The New Dixie Funeral Home's motto is: Respect the past with an understanding of today's modern changes.
