Bobbie Coble Obituary

Bobbie Joyce Coble

JULY 1, 1933 ~ MARCH 14, 2018 (AGE 84)

Bobbie Joyce Coble was the 5th of eight children born to Coliver and Willie Mae Ross of Henderson, Tennessee. She worked really hard like her parents and was from a family of strong women with backbone, her mother having lost their father to a heart attack in his 40s and went on to successfully raise all of her children to be dedicated hard workers who trusted in the Lord and believed in the power of His might. Bobbie Joyce was dearly loved by those who knew her.

Her funeral service was held on Saturday March 17, 2018 at Church Road Church of Christ at 12:00 noon with Minister Larry Prince charge.  Burial was in the Bolivar Community cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

Bobbie Joyce, called “Pudding” by her dear friends family, was added to the Lord’s Church early in life at Oak Grove Church of Christ in Henderson, Tennessee. She attended school at Chester County Training School in Henderson, Tennessee and later moved to Bolivar, Ten-nessee after she met and married Cromwell Coble, known by his friends as “Rabbit”. Bob-bie Joyce was a member of Tate Road Church of Christ in Bolivar, TN. She started working for Western Mental Health Institute in Bolivar, Tennessee in 1955 and worked there as a dedicated technician for approximately 40 years. She retired after her husband, Rabbit, be-came ill and stayed home to care for him until he passed away in 2001. She lost her hus-band and her mother on the same day, July 14, 2001. Bobbie Joyce enjoyed fishing, quilting, canning, and gardening. She and her husband always had a beautiful garden and raised some beautiful tomatoes and cabbage every year. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her famous chicken and dumplings and her chocolate fudge cake. Pudding had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed feeding her cats. Once she became unable to get around actively due to her knees, she said she put a table cloth over the stove, since she no longer needed it. Bobbie Joyce had one son, Jackie Johnson, who still resides in Henderson, Tennessee. She had a loving nature and was known as the candy lady at church because she always brought Brach’s peppermint, York candy, and coconut long boys to share with her friends.

Bobbie Joyce was preceded in death by her older sister, Zelda Mickens, of Henderson, Ten-nessee, and two siblings, Delores Ross and Kenneth Ross, who both died while infants. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Oliver “Jackie” Johnson (Velma) of Henderson, Ten-nessee, two grandsons: Timothy Johnson of Jackson, Tennessee and Phillip Johnson of Or-lando, Florida, two great-granddaughters: Malea Johnson of Navarre, Florida and Ashleigh Johnson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and one great-great grandson, Eliijah Timothy John-son of Navarre, Florida, whom she lovingly nicknamed “Bubba”, two loving sisters: Armiller McKinnie of Bolivar, Tennessee, and Candie Ross Clark, of Henderson, Tennessee and two brothers: Max Curtis (Ruby Dell) Ross of Decatur, Tennessee and Stanley Ross (Surrender) of Lexington, Tennessee, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pudding will be dearly missed
