Paul Edward Pigrum, 70, of Chicago, IL passed away on Sunday February 25, 2024. He was the youngest of ten children and was born on April 5, 1953 in Memphis to the late Bradley and Melissa Buntyn Pigrum.
His funeral service was held on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at Pine Hill Baptist Church-LaGrange with Elder Larry Robinson in charge. Burial was in the Hopewell Church Cemetery and dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
On April 4, 1968 he was participating in a protest march in Memphis when he heard that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. This impacted him greatly and he never forgot it.
He enjoyed racing cars and after graduating from high school he became a trained auto mechanic. He then relocated to Oakland, CA.
In his free time he enjoyed dancing on the television program, Sout Train.
He later relocated to Chicago where he worked several manufacturing jobs. He also worked as a school bus driver for the Durham School Bus Service. The children called him Mr. Paul and would always give him hugs.
His favorite saying was "Rockin and Rolling".
He was an active member of the Dupage AME Church where he enjoyed the fellowship and activities. He joined the Class Leader Council, the Men's Ministery, the Brotherhood Men's Chorus and was a founding member of the Voices of Praise.
He had a strong and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and strived for moring and evening devotion time.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his siblings, Nathaniel, Eddie Lee, Sr., Moses, Sr. and Billy Pigrum, Mae Lois Richards, Mary I. Patterson and Bradley Mae Washington.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Melissa SanRoman; siblings, Emma Pigrum-Jackson and Joseph Pigrum; three grandchildren and one adopted son, Darryus; Many other relatives and friends that will truly miss him.
