Mrs. Doris Josette Scott Lake, daughter of the late Augustus Scott and Clinora Neely Suddoth was born in Bolivar, TN on October 8, 1931.Doris was raised and educated in Bolivar, TN.
Her funeral service was held on Sunday October 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Greater Springfield MB Church (Bolivar, TN) with Pastor Robert Parham in charge. Burial was in the Green Grove MB Church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Green Grove M.B. Church. She later united with Greater Springfield where she remained a very active & faithful member until God called her home.
Doris was preceded in death by both parents: her husband; Otis (Nun) Lake: one sister; Kay Aurelia Strahorn and one brother; Stanley Scott.
Doris was united in Holy Matrimony to Otis (Nun) Lake. To this union, six children was born.
Doris Lake was an uncomplicated, yet extraordinary woman who worked with her heart, mind and soul to make a better life for her family and at the same time, through principles, loyalty and commitment to her beliefs, engendered love and respect among her many friends. She espoused love and lived for her children, dearly loved her grandchildren and many relatives.
Mrs. Doris’s backyard and front yard was always opened to anyone who liked real conversation. She was a problem solver. It was not uncommon for her to give raw and uncensored advice. She was a problem solver and didn’t charge.
Mrs. Doris is survived by: three daughters; Carolyn Bufford od Jackson, TN, Jacqueline (Jimmy) Lipscomb of Shorewood, IL., Barbara (Roosevelt) Speed of Plano, TX.: three sons; Scottie Lake of Memphis, TN., Gerald Lake and Devon (Kristi) Lake of Bolivar, TN.: one sister; Clinora Turner of Chicago, IL.: God-Child; Pam Norment Washington of Fletcher, NC.: thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
