EARNEST (DEMPSEY) LEE RAINER

December 16, 1938 ~ August 9, 2017 (age 78)

Earnest Lee Rainer was born December 16, 1938 and departed this earthly life August 9, 2017 at Pine Meadows Nursing Facility. He was affectionately known to everyone as Dempsey. 

His funeral service was held on Saturday August 19, 2017 at Jerome Boyd Chapel @ Dixie FH at 12:00 noon with Reverend Christopher Rainer in charge.  Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery - Saulsbury, Tn and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

He received Christ as his personal savior at an early age and became a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church. 

Dempsey was known as the community barber. He also loved playing the piano, guitar and singing. He loved people and he would do so many selfless acts to help others. Dempsey loved his family as well. 

Dempsey was preceded in death by his father and mother; Haney and Mable Estelle "S.T." Rainer; four brothers: Clarence "Dub" Rainer, Joe "Tuffy" Rainer, Jerry Russell "Polly" Rainer and Charles W. Rainer. 

Dempsey is survived by two sons: Darrell "Jim Jackson" Lake and Stevie (Gwen) Lake of Anchorage, AK; three grandchildren: Linda, Stevie Jr., and Darrell Jr.; one loving sister: Gladys R. Walton of Bolivar, Tn; three brothers: James M. Rainer of Milwaukee, WI, Allen F. Rainer of Anchorage, AK, and Michael A. Rainer of Fairbanks, AK; a loving nephew who was raised with them as a younger brother: Ricky (Melissa) Robinson of Roth, MN; one sister-in-law: Linda Rainer of Jackson, Tn and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
