Emma Jo Boyd-Jones

1951-2016

Boyd-Jones, Emma Jo age 65, a native of Bolivar, Tennessee, was called home to heaven July 3, 2016. Emma Jo was born January 15, 1951 to Jerome and Emma Jane (Clara) Boyd, who both preceded her in death. Emma Jo was a graduate of Saint Elizabeth Academy High School in St. Louis in 1969 and a graduate of Lane College where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology in 1973. After 30 plus years of service with the State of Tennessee as a mental health provider, she retired in 2006.  Emma's pride and joy were her three children, Amelia (Milton), Antoinette, and Andre. Emma Jo was natural caregiver, providing comfort to both her parents and all of her older relatives, often driving everyone to their respective doctor’s appointment. She is survived by her brother Ernest Shivers, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, and grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, from 6-7 p.m. (viewing is available from noon to 7 p.m.) and funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 9 at Dixie Funeral Home in the Honorable Jerome Boyd Service Chapel at 750 Bills St, Bolivar, Tennessee. Interment: Bolivar Community Cemetery.
