Ethel Wade Pirtle “EW” was born to the  late Mr. Andre Wade and Mrs. Ethel Jo Fuller on October 24, 1922 in Madison County, Tennessee. She grew up in Hardeman County, TN and was educated in the public schools.

Her funeral service was held on Sunday December 18, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Clover Chapel MB Church with Pastor Lawrence Pirtle in charge. Burial was in the Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home (dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service.

Ethel accepted Christ early in life and joined Clover Chapel MB Church of Toone, TN. She remained a lifelong member. She served as President of the Usher Board, Church Secretary, and sang in the Choir for many years.

Ethel exchanged marital vows with Mr. Willie Pirtle, Sr. December 20, 1940 in Clinton, KY. They were blessed with five children and taught them to love God and one another. He husband, Willie was called to rest, August 1995 after fifty-four plus years of marriage. He beloved stepmother, Mosie Mae Fuller, five brothers, Willie Watkins, Leroy Watkins, DJ Fuller, Terry Fuller, Louis Fuller, three sisters, Barbara Fuller, Mary McLilley and Mattie Mae Hopgood also preceded her in death.

Ethel was an industrious wife, mother, and grandmother who made her house a home for her family. She was employed at Master Slacks Apparels for a time but never neglected her family. Ethel loved cooking, sewing, and fishing. For many years she was a seamstress to the public.  

Mother Ethel Pirtle transitioned into a better life leaving behind a legacy of diligent work and an example of Christian living to be cherished by her children: Ms. Martha Jimmerson, Mr. Willie (Norma) Pirtle, Jr., Mr. Alvin (Katherine) Pirtle, Ms. Alberta (Larry) Wooden, Mrs. Diane (Larry) Chism; one sister Ms. Inize Cheshier all of Toone, TN; one brother, Mr. Ezell Fuller of Michigan, fifteen grandchildren, thirty two great grand children, nineteen great, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and a church family (Clover Chapel) that will remember her labor of love.
