George Humphrey, Sr. 

1936 --2016

Mr. George Humphrey was born in Somerville, Tn. to the late Bessie Mae Green and General Grant Humphrey.

His funeral service was held on Saturday October 15, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Jerome Boyd Chapel @ Dixie FH (Bolivar, TN) with Pastor Willie Percy Green in charge.  Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service.

George attended Fayette County Schools and was employed as a brick layer.

George confess his life to Christ at an early age and joined Smith Chapel M.B. Church. George loved fishing and farming.

George was preceded in death by his parents: one son; Frank Humphrey: one daughter; Susie Humphrey: two brothers; Willie L. Humphrey and Tom Borner: three sisters; Trudie Scott, Lizzie   Whitaker, and Betty Whitehorn: two aunts; Bobbie Lue Williams and Frankie Jones and one uncle; Bennie Borner.

George was united in Holy Matrimony in 1955 to Birdie Mae Humphrey. Together, they raised seven children.

George leaves to cherish his memories: his loving devoted wife: Birdie Mae Humphrey: one son; George (Stella) Humphrey, Jr.: four daughters;  Pauline Humphrey Braddock, Linda Humphrey, Mary Humphrey Finch and Brenda Bufford: six brothers; Sammie Green, Elijah Humphrey, Willie Percy Green, John Green, Robert (Sally) Green and James Green: three sister; Roberta Coleman, Lutisia Puryear and Bobbie Dyson: one uncle; Harry William and a host of nieces, nephews, grand children, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren
