March 17, 1945 ~ April 19, 2017 (age 72)

On Wednesday, April 19, 2017, God called home one of his angels.

Mrs. Georgia Mae Brown Rivers was the  daughter of the late Mr. Silas and Mrs. Louvada Cheshier Brown. She was the fourth child of twelve siblings, four brothers, Sonny, William, Silas Jr., and Jerr: three sisters, Louise Robinson, Shirley and Willie Brown preceded her in death.

Her funeral service was held on Saturday April 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Zion Temple Worship Center Church with Elder Wendell Sain in charge.  Burial was in the Bolivar Community Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com in charge of the professional service.

Georgia Mae grew up in Bolivar, TN and attended the public schools of Hardeman County. Her spiritual nurturing began early in life as she attended Sunday School and worship services at Zion Temple #1 Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late pastor Tommie & Mother Addie McTizic. As a young adult, she acknowledges Jesus as Lord of her life and became a member until her demise.

June 8, 1964, Georgia Mae exchanged martial vows with Mr. James Rivers, this union produced eight children. Her husband, James Rivers, a son, Mark ‘Charlie’, and a daughter, Lisa, preceded her in death.

Sister Georgia, which she was affectionately called by the members of Zion Temple, loved the Lord, her family, church family, and exhibited love and respect for her spiritual leaders. She served faithfully on the usher board and as a pulpit aide. Even when she was too weak to serve, Sister Georgia came to church dressed in her uniform, prepared to serve.

Sister Georgia’s transition leaves behind three daughters: Ms. Gladys Rivers, Mrs. Gloria (Eric) Coble, and Ms. Gabrial of Bolivar, TN; three sons: Mr. Marvin, Mr. Michael, and Mr. James Rivers of Jackson, TN; twenty grand children, a host of great grand children, four sisters; Mrs. Dorothy (Earnest) Rivers, Mrs. Cathy (Robert) Woods, Ms. Ethel franklin and Ms. Gwendolyn Brown; one brother in law, Mr. Larry Rivers; two sisters-in-law: Ms. Joann Chapel and Mrs. Lovine (Curtis) Pirtle; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her church family, Zion Temple, who will truly
