GOLA JEAN REAVES

September 14, 1950 ~ September 15, 2017 (age 67)

Gola “Jean” Watkins Reaves was born to the late Willie and Cora Watkins.

Her viewing was held on Saturday September 23, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 7 pm at Jerome Boyd Chapel. Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

She was the seventh of ten children, and they were a close knit family that loved each other dearly. Six of her siblings have fallen asleep in death: James, Howard, Ida, Willie, Faye, and Shirley. Jean missed them, and often spoke of wanting to see them and her parents again in the resurrection.

Jean is survived by three loving sisters: Carmelita (Benny), Vicki (Greg) Elsie (WC). They all loved to laugh, associate together, fix meals for one another, and have lots of fun. She is also survived by a loving family of four sister-in-law’s: Laura (Wilbur), Louise (Charles), Rosetta (Denzil), Eloise “Weda” and four brothers-in-law: Richard “Bubba” (Yvonne), Paul (Hester), Joe L, and Thomas Ray. They loved her with all their hearts. She has a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jean is survived by her loving husband, Archie Reaves and her two children: Felicia “Fam” (Chris) and Archie “Mod” (Shantae). They were married for 38 wonderful years, on September 10, 1979. She often said how grateful and appreciative she was to have a loving husband that took good care of her throughout their life together, not only physically and materially but spiritually. She had a mate that stuck to her loyally. May their Love and commitment to Jehovah’s marital arrangement move us to follow their fine example as husband and wife and as a Christian couple.

Jean was a loving and caring mother that loved them very much. She would often say she had the best children in the world. Fam and Mod both took great care of their mother and assisted their Dad in her care. She would tell them every chance she had that she loved them and ended it with a hug and a kiss.

Jean also had six grandchildren: Steven, Reshad, Krishana, Ariyana, Shaniya and AJ. Once these grandchildren came, life as she knew it was changed forever. She was always buying or bringing them some type of clothing, toys or whatever they liked. She loved them all, and spoke about them to anyone who would listen.
