Henry Leon Sullivan of Grand Junction passed away on Wednesday August 31, 2016 in Jackson. He was born on November 9, 1948, to the late Mr. Jack Sullivan and Laura Washington Sullivan.
His funeral service was held on Saturday September 10, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Sims Chapel MB Church-Michigan City, MS with Reverend Elvis White in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
Leon accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Grand Junction, TN. He later joined Sims Chapel M.B. Church where he remained faithful until his health failed. Leon was a 1966 graduate of Bolivar Industrial High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army from February 24, 1969 to March 9, 1971. He served in the Vietnam War.
On August 31, 1971, Leon was united in Holy Matrimony to Arnell Liddell; the love of his life. Two sons was born to this union.
Leon worked a number of years at different jobs; lumber yards, winter gardens and different factories.
Leon was preceded in death by one sister; Pauline Sullivan Hughes and one brother, James Sullivan.
Leon will be missed, but he leaves a legacy of memories to be cherished by: his loving and devoted wife of 46 years; Arnell Sullivan: two sons: Cornelius (Sonia) Sullivan of Bolivar, TN and Tyrone (Tonya) Sullivan of Memphis, TN.: seven grandchildren; Kenedra, Kenyatta, Richenda, Madison, Keyosha, Dmyhum and Latoya: four great grandchildren; M.J., D.J., Kenderick and Chloe: one sister; Linda Dowdy: two brothers; Edward Dowdy and Peter Dowdy of Memphis, TN.: eight sister –in-laws; a host of sister and brother –in—laws; Carlis (Charlotte) McCain, Veurches Webster, Lillie (Johnny) Trailor, Laverne (Jessie) Bryson, Ida (Emmit) Bailey, Juanita (Curtis) Grandberry, Elaine (David) Hudson, Robert (Jan) Coleman: five special friends; Carl Brown, James Pugh, Rickey Hussey, Thomas Hamer Jr. and Dave Valentine and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him as well.
