JaVarrie "Jojo" Robertson

2002-2016

JaVarrie "Jojo" Robertson, 13, of Whiteville passed away suddenly on Friday October 28, 2016.  He was born on December 7, 2002 to Fabre Kadasha Williams and the late Joe D'Andra Robertson.

His funeral service was held on Saturday October 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Antioch MB Church-Whiteville with Reverend William Watson in charge.  Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

He was a student at Toone Elementary School and was a member of the Beta Club, Yearbook Staff and Basketball team.

He found Jesus Christ at a young age and was baptized.  He was an active member of Antioch MB Church where he attended various programs and visited nursing homes.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother and stepfather, Fabre Kadasha Williams (Anthony) Ford; siblings, Katelin Trotter, Jaylee and Kaci Robertson, Alexis and JaJuan X. Ford; grandparents, DeWayne and Debra Spencer, Jerry and Christine Polk and Edna Ford; great grandparents, Carrie Taylor and Molene Polk; many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives that will truly miss him.

It was a cold and brisk Saturday night in December (42 degrees to be exact).  If anyone is from the Hardeman County area, you know what happens the first Saturday in December in downtown Bolivar. Yep, the Bolivar Christmas Parade! My mom was excited about attending, but little did she know, I was ready to enter the world and make my mark. And that’s exactly what I did. Before my mom was able to listen to the booming sounds of the band and watch the excitement as candy is thrown into the crowd, I entered on Saturday, December 7, 2002. I was a 6lb 1oz bundle of sheer joy for my parents Fabre Kadasha Williams and Joe D’Andra Robertson.  Surely they listened to the number one hit song on that day Lose Yourself by Eminem because they lost themselves in my evident handsomeness.  I was welcomed home by a great amount of family and friends who I will mention later, but let me tell you a bit more about me.

Over the course of the years, I gained interest in several extracurricular activities and sports.  Many of those activities were performed both in and out of school. Not many children are, but I had the privilege of attending one of the best schools in Tennessee, Toone Elementary.  I absolutely positively loved Toone Elementary and something tells me they loved me too. Mrs. Megan says that I was one of the sweetest students she’s ever taught and that I kept her on her toes. Sure did! But speaking of toes, I never wanted anyone to step on mine because my shoes were always fresh.  As I progressed in grades while at Toone, I was a member of the Beta Club, Yearbook Staff, and Basketball Team. Yep, I was smart, athletic, and again, handsome.

When talking about family, I had the best of the best. An amazing and supportive biological, church, and bonus family constantly surrounded and loved me from my inception. When I played baseball, they were there. When I played basketball, they were there. When I sang in the youth and young adult choir, you guessed it; indeed, they were there. February 3, 2013 was a very special day for me. That was the day that I put Christ on in baptism at Antioch Baptist Church.  Before then I was always participating in church activities such as serving during senior saints holiday brunch as well as mother’s and father’s day brunch, visiting the nursing homes, singing in the choir, and ushering.  Man, my church family is awesome!

Now when I mention my biological family, I must also mention the bonus family I gained at the tender age of 5 years old.  As if I wasn’t already loved, it was piled on more and more when my mom began dating (and ultimately married) Anthony J. Ford.  With him came an additional crew of wonderful and loving “family”.  To all of you, there is so much more to say, but my heavenly father and I have some very important business to attend to.  Just know that I will be spending a lot of time with my maternal great-grandparents, Ed and Ollie Williams, as well as my father who I loved dearly, Joe D’Andra “Duke” Robertson. Just know that we have a plan to assure that all of you are taken care of.  To my loving, devoted, caring, and supportive mother, Fabre Kadasha Ford (Anthony), I love you! My sisters, Katelin Trotter, Jaylee and Kaci Robertson, and Alexis Ford, and my brother JaJuan X. Ford, I love you too. To the best grandparents in the world, Dwayne and Debra Spencer, Jerry and Christine Polk, and Edna D. Ford, I will forever be in your hearts.  To my great grandmothers Carrie Taylor and Molene Polk, carry on, I’m okay. To my aunts, Kabrea Williams, Kawanna Robertson, Contrina Robertson (Preston), Shonda Polk, Nikki Jarrett, and Acacia Ford, remember my contagious smile and allow thoughts of it to warm your hearts and soul. To my uncles, Fabian Williams, Christopher Stovall, Rayshunt Johnson, Jerry Polk, Edward Lee Robertson, Jo’Wan Murphy, Reginald Sain, Stanley Perry, Jay Ford, Ira J. Ford, and Brandon Johnson, keep my memory alive.  To my great aunts and uncles, Peggy Hendrix, Ruth Polk (Bennie), Faye Story (Troy), Clarice Williams, Shuhan Allen (Plummer), Cherry Wright, Lou Emma Robertson, Linnie Mae Robertson, Rosie Robertson, Cornelius Wright, Ben Polk, and Charles Robertson, please think of me often and know I’m doing the same.  To my God-mother Ashanti Joy, look out for my mother and remember I love you too. To my many cousins, special friends, teammates, well “my squad” rest assured that JoJo is good! And finally, again, to the best mother any 13 year old could ask for, God granted us 13 wonderful and truly amazing years together. I have learned that 13 is a karmic number of upheaval so that new ground can be broken and it has great power.  The number 13 is a number of great blessings given by God. See ma, the number 13 is a two-fold promise. It always involves man and it always involves God. It always has seasons, times, and circumstances in which God and man can participate.  The number 13 always has the underlying fact that God determined it, said it, and it would happen regardless of the circumstances. God gave Abraham a promise and at 99 years old, God’s promise came. However, at 86 years old, Abraham tried to bring about God’s promise. Nevertheless, God allowed 13 years between the Promise given and the Promise manifested. So don’t fret, because God’s will has been done and His Promise has been manifested. Until we meet again, “Love you ma, be safe.”
