Larry Doby Woods

1950-2016

Larry Doby Woods of Bolivar passed away on Thursday July 14, 2016 at home.  He was born on May 23, 1950 to the late Pete and Mildred Cheairs Woods and was one of twelve children. 

His funeral service was held on Saturday July 23, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Tate Road Church of Christ with Minister Larry Prince in charge. Burial was in the Bolivar Community Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

As a youth he joined Greater Springfield MB Church. He  later joined Tate Road Church of Christ.  He was educated in the Hardeman County public schools and was a 1968 graduate of Bolivar Industrial School. 

He worked several jobs in Hardeman County and retired with over thirty years of service  from Harman International (Jervis Corporation). 

In 1979 he married Joyce McKinnie and to this union two children were born, Larry Woods, II and Melanie Brooke Woods.  He genuinely loved his wife and children. 

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, David, W.C. and Roosevelt (L.T.) Woods; two sisters, Juanita Woods and Lovine Woods.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife and children; four sisters, Lillie (Roosevelt) Hill, Christine head, Elizabeth McKinnie, and Martha Miller; two brothers, George (Louise) and Perer, Jr. (Geneva) Woods; two grandsons; many other relatives and friends that will truly miss him.
