Evangelist Prophetess L. Vanessa Joy

Evangelist Prophetess L. Vanessa Joy entered this world on October 29, 1962, the eighth child born to the late Mr. Leslie Cox and Mrs. Myrtle Luster Jones.  She was the youngest of the children.  God chose to call this precious, wonderful angel home on October 6, 2017. Evangelist Prophetess L. Joy loved and had a close and personal relationship with the Lord.

Her funeral service was held on Saturday October 14, 2017 at 12:00 noon at the Hillfield MB Church-Toone, TN  with Pastor Lawrence Pirtle in charge with burial in the Church cemetery.  Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.  

Evangelist Prophetess Joy was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Ray Joy, Sr. on February 15, 1991.  Two children were born to that union.  Evangelist Prophetess Joy attended Bolivar Central High School.  She worked at several nursing homes and for Western Mental Health Institute (WMHI) for almost nine years until her health failed.  She also worked as a substitute teacher in the Hardeman County Schools.

Evangelist Prophetess Joy was a lifelong resident of Bolivar, TN, and she graduated from Lancaster Bible College in 2015, with a Bachelor of Science in Bible.  She confessed Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Baptist Church.  Later in life, she rededicated her life to Christ and became a member of Hillfield Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Lawrence Pirtle.  She remained a member until her demise.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. Leslie Cox and Mrs. Myrtle Luster Jones; her husband, Willie Ray Joy, Sr.; three brothers, Samuel “Bubba” Justice, Allen Justice, Sr. and Robert Justice and one sister, Minnie Pearl Bowden.

Evangelist Prophetess Joy leaves to cherish her memory:  two sons:  William Keonadrea Joy and Willie Ray Joy, Jr., Bolivar, TN; grandson:  William Isiah McTizic, Bolivar, TN, granddaughter: Kailynn Joy, Bolivar, TN; brothers:  John (Rose) Justice, Sr., St. Louis, MO, Jimmie Justice, Bolivar, TN; sisters: Cathyn (Jermaine) Damron, Selmer, TN, Carolyn (Ray) Brown, Bolivar, TN; brother-in-law’s:  James (Marsha) Joy and Roy (Willethia) Joy, Nashville, TN, Percy (Carolyn) Joy and Dennis (Sandra) Joy, Bolivar, TN, Eddie Wayne (Dorothy) Joy, Grand Junction, TN; sister-in-law’s:  Myrtle Joy, Lucille Joy, Georgia (James T.) Keeling and Marlin (Cloyd) Allen, Nashville, TN, Mable Joy Williams, Whiteville, TN, and Gracie (Duane) Brown, Upper Mariboro, MD; a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends that will truly miss her.  Special friends:  Mrs. Beatrice Allen, Grand Junction, TN and Evangelist Ernestine Taylor, St. Louis, MO will also cherish fond memories shared in the life of Evangelist Prophetess Joy.
