Morris Herbert Duncan

1954 – 2016

Morris Herbert Duncan, son of the late Mr. George and Mrs. Lydia Cheairs Duncan, was born May 29, 1954 in the town of Grand Junction, Tennessee.

His funeral service was held on Saturday May 28, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Oak Hill MB Church in Bolivar, TN with Pastor Gene Bowden in charge.  Burial was in the Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

Morris was raised on a farm with his siblings which taught him how to be a diligent worker and the value of honest work. He was introduced to Christ as a youth and became a member of Hopewell MB Church of Grand Junction, TN. His basic education was obtained in the public schools of Hardeman County, TN. Morris graduated in 1973 from Middleton High School, Middleton, TN.

Morris met a young lady named, Vernet Lake, whom he perceived to be his life-mate. On September 9, 1979, they exchanged marital vows and remained together until God reclaimed him on May 23, 2016. One brother, Themon Duncan preceded him in death.

Morris was an employee of Kem-lite Sequentia for 30 years when the plant closed. He also worked at Wal-Mart for 10 years.  He was a man that believed in providing for his family.

Morris later united with Oak Hill MB Church which brought his family together for worship at the same place. He was faithful in support of the church.

Brother Morris H. Duncan departed this life leaving behind a legacy of kindness towards others, diligent work, honesty, integrity for  his son and those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Brother Morris H. Duncan will be lovingly remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 36+ years, Mrs. Vernet Lake Duncan; a loving son, Mr. Christopher Duncan; two brothers: Mr. George Frank Duncan and Mr. Thomas Duncan of Grand Junction, TN; one sister, Mrs. Atwater (Hollis) Dennis of Michigan City, MS; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins,  sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many friends will truly miss him.
