Netter Mae "Boyd" Griggs

1923 -- 2016

Mrs. Netter Mae Boyd-Griggs was born August 15, 1923 to Mr. Robert Boyd and Mrs. Willie Urella Harris - Boyd. 

Her funeral service was held on Saturday October 29, 2016 at 12:00 pm at New Bethel's God House of Promise with Reverend Kelvin Lake in charge.  Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Bethlehem M. B. Church. In later years, she joined the New Bethel M.B. Church where she served as president of the usher board for ten years, served with the choir and served as church secretary for thirty years. She married Mr. Jimmie Lee Griggs Sr. on November 26, 1941. To this union four children were born, two boys and two girls. Netter was a member of Greenwood Chapter No. 217 order of the Eastern Star, Victoria Guild No. 9 and the Sons and Daughters of Charity. She is survived by two sons; Jimmie Lee Jr. (Cleaster) Griggs, Robert Lewis (Jessie) Griggs, both of Chicago IL., two daughters; Willie Mae Griggs and Mary Louise Crisp both of Bolivar, Tn., two grandsons; Rickey Griggs (Yolanda) of Bolivar, Tn., and Kenneth Griggs of Jackson Tn., that she raised as her own sons and a special nephew Darrell Griggs of Bolivar, Tn., that she also raised as her own until his early teens, a brother, Charlie (Katherine) Boyd of Cleveland, Oh., 17 grandchildren, (which two preceded her in death), 29 Great grandchildren, 5 Great great grandchildren, and a host of dear nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her parents, Robert and Willie Boyd, her husband, Jimmie Lee Griggs Sr., two grandsons, a brother in law, Bethel Griggs which was like a brother to her, two sisters, Mary Jones and Alma Higgs and three brothers, Eugene Boyd, James Boyd and Willie Boyd.
