Ruby Mae Stanley Watkins at the age of 69, departed this life on August 16, 2016 at her home in Jackson, Tennessee due to a prolonged illness. Ruby was a graduate of Bolivar Industrial School, Bolivar, Tennessee. She professed her life to Christ at an early age. She was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jackson,Tennessee. She had a love for working in the church, where she served on the usher board as a faithful member. She retired fromJackson-Madison County General Hospital after having been employed there for twenty-three years as a food service attendant. Ruby was a long time active member of the Order of Eastern Star and a Shrine daughter.

On June 9, 1988 Ruby and John Watkins were married. Atthe time of her demise, they had been married for twenty-eightyears.

Ruby had a love for always taking care of other people, making sure that people she knew and those she didn’t know would have food to ear when they were visiting their loved ones in the hospital. God gave her a special gift for making sure that people were fed. She never, never met a stranger that she could not hold in conversation – she had the gift of gab for talking and always smiling with jokes. She will never be forgotten for the qualities that she shared with family and friends. Another one of her loves was travelling. She would never miss a family reunion. It could be thousands of miles away, but she would make sure that she was there. She was truly a woman who would not sit still; she was always on the go.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, John Watkins of Jackson, TN; two sisters, Katherine Jestice (Allen) of Bolivar, TN and Mary Beard of Jackson, TN; a brother, J. W. Stanley of Jackson, TN; two brothers-in-law, Allen Mitchell and Bert Watkins, Jackson, TN; a niece, Mary Bonds of Dallas, TX; two nephews, Ricky and Jimmie Stanley both of Jackson, TN; and a host of great nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
