Willie L. Humphrey

1946 -- 2016

Possessing a ticket to glory land, Willie L Humphrey took flight to his final destination on Friday, April 29, 2016 and now he is resting and rejoicing in the Lord.  He was born to Robert Polk, Sr. and Mattie Joe Boyle Stokeon May 4, 1946 in Whiteville, TN. He  was his mother’s only child and was raised by Mr. Grant Humphrey. Willie L was educated at Fayette County Schools in Somerville, TN. He was employed for forty-two (42) years at Kilgore Corporation in Toone, TN. He was a very dedicated worker which led to his successful career in the chemical plant industry. Many awards, certificates, and monetary gifts were giving for safety, attendance, loyalty, and longevity.

His funeral service was held on Friday May 6, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Union Springs MB Church-Whiteville,TN with Reverend Melvin Rivers in charge.  Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Willie L was united in holy matrimony to Willie Mae Jones on February 19, 1967 and to this union four children were born. One son, Kent Jerome Jones; three brothers, Robert Polk Jr., Edward (Stone) Polk, James Morrow and his parents preceded him in death. He was a loving and giving person who touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Willie L will be greatly missed by family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Angela (Humphrey) Tolliver of Memphis, TN; two sons; Anthony (Tanika) Humphrey of Bolivar, TN; Mark (Tiffany) Humphrey of Nashville, TN; one sister, Bobby Dyson of Henderson, Tennessee; two brothers, Elisha Humphrey and George (Bertha) Humphrey of Somerville, TN; eleven sister-in laws; Lola Jones, Charity Lake, Mary (Ray) Davis, Catha Jones, Linda (Johnny B.) Murphy all of Bolivar, TN; Lorine Knox and Jerlean (David) Chambers of Milwaukee, WI; Alma (Edward) James of Tacoma, WA; Cynthia Rey of Nashville, TN; Janie Tisdale of Whiteville, TN; Bernice Hill of St. Louis, MO; Two brother-in- laws; Thomas (Glenda) Jones and Milton (Carolyn) Jones all of Bolivar, TN.  A special cousin, Worley (Annette) of Buffalo, NY. Eleven grandchildren; three great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
