Betty Murphy
AUGUST 2, 1951 ~ JANUARY 30, 2019 (AGE 67)
A beautiful angel was born, Betty Jane Joy, to the late Luther “Dick” and Lillie “Boosie” Joy on August 2, 1951. Betty confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Union Springs M.B. Church in Whiteville Tennessee.
Her funeral service was held on Saturday February 9, 2019 at Union Hill MB Church at 11:00 am with Pastor Robert Lee Williams, Jr. in charge of the service. Burial was in the Union Springs MB Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
She attended Union Springs and Allen White School in Whiteville TN. She was employed at Masterslack in Bolivar TN. She was also employed at Western Mental Health Institution in Bolivar Tennessee until she retired.
On January 30, 2019 at approximately 12pm, God called His angel, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, home to be with Him in Glory.
Betty goes home to be with her father, Luther ‘’Dick” Joy, her mom, Lillie B. (Boosie) Joy, her son, Timothy Tamond Murphy, and her brothers Martin Luther Joy and U. L. Joy.
She leaves her family and friends to cherish her memories a loving husband: C.H. Murphy of Whiteville TN; two loving children: Demeco (Shaquita) Murphy, of Bolivar TN and La’Shunta (Morry) McNeal of Whiteville TN; seven grandchildren: Jakima Hill, Kylyn Allen whom she raised as one of her own, Jontasia Jones, Morquavious Murphy, Teniya Murphy, Nevaeh McNeal, Demeco Murphy Jr (DJ); five sisters: Lois (James) Williams, Jeanette Joy and Sandra Taylor all of Bolivar TN, Minnie Joy, Teresa Wooden of Whiteville TN; A nephew, Bernard Williams, who was raised as one of her brothers; three uncles: Eli (Gladys) Joy of Whiteville TN and Robert Woods of Chicago IL and O’Neal Stafford of St. Louis MO; and a host of nephews, nieces, sister in laws, brother in laws, cousins and friends.
