Sis. Gertdine McKinnie Hussey was born August 18, 1945 to the late Richard Sr. and Elmarine Wilkes McKinnie in Bolivar, TN. She entered into her eternal rest on July 13, 2018 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and united with Bethlehem M.B. Church where she remained a faithful member serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board Treasurer, a Member of the Deborah Circle, and Chair of the Flower Committee.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, solitaire, dancing, reading her bible, and spending time with family and friends. Mother, Sister, Friend, and Confidant who allowed no one to be a stranger.
Sis. Gertdine graduated from Allen-White High School. She married Pedro Hussey and to this union, two children were born. She was employed at Western Mental Health and retired from Nat T. Winston Developmental Center. Eager to do more, she returned to Quinco Mental Health until her second retirement.
Sis. Gertdine was preceded in death by her siblings; Virely Perry, Claude Wilkes, Richard (Bobbie Lou) McKinnie, Jr., Aaron (Wanda) McKinnie, Byron (Shirley) McKinnie, Denise McKinnie, and a nephew raised as a sibling, Willie Manley.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: her children - Michele (Wesley) Winfrey, and Eric (Erica) Hussey; Three Sister’s – Sandra Manley, Doris (Jackie) Littleton, and Helen Golden; Two Brother’s – Charles (Bessie) McKinnie and Johnny (Holly) Yancey; A niece and nephew raised as siblings, Betty Wilkes and Elliot Wilkes; Two Special Sister-n-Law’s- Shirley and Margaret Mckinnie; Two Special Daughter’s- Debra Fuller and Twellia McAlpin; Eight Grandchildren – Marquiza, Emmanuel, Wesleigh Jane, Ethan, Evan, Rachel, Chris, and Springlynn Grace; Three Aunts – Clarissa Bell, Doretha Bowers, and Armiller McKinnie and numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Neighbors and Friends.
