JUNE 4, 1948 ~ AUGUST 15, 2019 (AGE 71)

   William Lawrence Mckinnie passed away on Thursday august 15, 2019 in Jackson.  He was born in Whiteville on June 4, 1948 to Lawrence and the late Nell Greene Mckinney. 

His funeral service was held on Friday August 23, 2019 at 11:00 am at Union Hill MB Church with Reverend Willie Ray Boyle in charge. Burial was in the Bartlett Chapel CME Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home (dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service. 

In 1954 he relocated with his parents to Los Angeles, CA where he attended school. He attended Pomona High School Mt. San Antonio Junior College, Pepperdine College and Loyola University School of Law where in 1975 he received a Juris Doctorate.  He attended college on a track scholarship and established several school records. 

In 1971 he joined the Army National Guard and in 1979 he was honorably discharged.  He attended Macedonia Baptist Church in California.

He was a member of the California and Tennessee Bar and practiced law until July 19, 2015 when he retired due to poor health.  He returned to Tennessee to help care for his father.

In 1988 he married Sharon Harris and to this union two sons were born, Lawrence Benard and Daniel Paul Oliver. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his father; his wife and children; one sister, Nancy McKinney; many other relatives and friends that will miss him.
