April 6, 1954 ~ March 11, 2020 (age 65)

Scottie Monroe Lake, 65 years old of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on March 11, 2020 at his home.

His funeral service was held on Saturday March 21, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Greater Springfield MBC with Pastor Robert Parham in charge. Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service. 

Born on April 6, 1954 in Bolivar, Tennessee to Mr. & Mrs. Otis Lake ( Doris Scott). He was the eldest son and fourth child of six children.

Scottie was baptized and raised up in Greater Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar. He later attended St. Paul MB Church in Memphis, TN.

He attended Elementary and High School in Bolivar. Upon graduating high school, he attended Memphis State University in 1972. He became a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity at Memphis State University; later he joined the United States Army Airborne 82nd. His employment consists of working for the Union Pacific Railways and United States Post Office in Memphis. Scottie was a devoted union worker.

Scottie enjoyed his life to the fullest. His interests included listening to music; playing cards; watching sports, especially basketball and football; avid reader that was always seeking ways on how to find solutions to his own concerns, as well as others. He enjoyed socializing with others and telling jokes.

He leaves to cherish two daughters: Sherri Anderson of Jackson, Tennessee; Rosalyn Lake of Memphis, Tennessee; two grandchildren: Nasharya Lake of Fallon, Nevada and Cedric Anderson Jr. of Jackson, Tennessee: three sisters; Carolyn Bufford of Jackson, Tennessee, Jacqueline (Jimmy) Lipsomb of Shorewood, Illinois; Barbara (Roosevelt) Speed of Plano, Texas: two brothers; Gerald Lake of Bolivar, Tennessee, Devon (Kristy) Lake of Bolivar, Tennessee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Phat Brothers and friends.
