Walter Lee Bowden, Sr.

Walter Lee Bowden Sr. was born on December 19, 1936 in Middleton, Tennessee. He was the 3rd child of ten children born to Mr. Hillard and Mrs. Nellie Bowden.
Walter gave his life to Christ, was baptized, and joined Oak Hill M. B. Church of Bolivar, Tennessee. He served on the Usher Board, Trustee Board, and as Sunday School Superintendent.
He was educated in the public schools of Hardeman County, TN at Allen White H. S. of Whiteville, Tennessee.
Walter met Miss Emogene Jones and they were joined in Holy matrimony in 1956. To this union, three children were born. Walter had a wide range of work experiences throughout his life: Western Mental Health Institute, Milan Army Ammunition Plant, Union Stewart and Boiler Attendant at the Bolivar Tannery, Madison-Haywood Development Center and Hardeman County Road Department. He was also an entrepreneur, establishing his own businesses: Logging Transport, Bolivar Dry Cleaner, and Bolivar Funeral Home Inc.
Walter Lee Sr. made his transition from this earth on October 2nd, 2020 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was preceded
in death by: his parents, Hillard & Nellie, a brother, Hillard Jr. and a sister, Thelma Bowden Woods.
He leaves to cherish his memories: A son, Walter Lee (Juanita) Bowden Jr. of Saulsbury, TN; two daughters: Emma Kaye (George) Sharp of Whiteville, TN, Cynthia Genel Bowden of Bolivar, TN; two granddaughters: Krisha Natasha Cross of Jackson TN, Cherterica Nicole Neal of Bolivar, TN; three great grandsons: Curtavious Deshun Neal,Dontavious Mezekiel Cross and Eli Blaylock; three great granddaughters: Makayla Denise Neal, Kathleen Nashae Brown, and India Mikaysha Chism; a grand god-daughter, Kiera Shunta Owens; three brothers: W C (Elsie) Bowden of Bolivar, TN, Anderson (Alma) Bowden, Pastor Earl Lee
(Josephine) Bowden of Middleton, TN; four sisters: Ms. Inez Cole of Middleton, TN, Ms. Iona Jones, Ms. Florine Stiger, and Ms. Clara Jackson of Detroit, Michigan: Walter Sr. has a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, extended family members and friends.
