Cora Lee Stewart Wright

1926-2012

Cora Lee Stewart Wright, 85, passed away on October 10, 2012.  She was born in Grand Junction on December 4, 1926 the fourth of ten children to the late Ephraim and Cora Bell Stewart. 

Her funeral service was held on Saturday October 20, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Jones Chapel MBC-Grand Junction with Reverend Mitchell B. Stewart, Sr. in charge.  Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service. 

Her spiritual life began at Jones Chapel when she accepted Jesus Christ where she remained a member until her health failed.  She served as a Sunday School teacher and church secretary. 

In 1951 she married the late Herbert Hoover Wright and to this union three children were born, Thelma, Tawana and the late Michael Lewis.

She was educated at Jones Chapel School, Fayette County Training School, Lane College where she received her degree in 1948 and later Memphis State University. 

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and son; siblings, Alice, Willie and Lepolia.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Thelma and Tawana Wright; four sisters, Mattie Stewart, Ora mae Lewis, Bobbie (Charlie) Walton and Thelma (Walter) Hill; two brothers, Ozell and Charles Stewart; five grand children; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends that will truly miss her.

She was employed as a school teacher in Tupelo, MS, Southern Grove School (Moscow, TN), Jones Chapel School and LaGrange-Moscow School for 44 years.
