JUNE 13, 1938 ~ FEBRUARY 18, 2019 (AGE 80)

Mr. Eli Joy was born June 13, 1938 to the late Doc and Janie Joy in Whiteville, TN.

His funeral service was held on Saturday February 23, 2019 at Antioch MB Church  at 11:00 am with Pastor Jerry crisp in charge of the service.  Burial was in the Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

He grew up in the New Castle community and attended Hardeman County Schools.

At an early age, Eli gave his life to Christ and joined Antioch M.B. Church where his membership remained until his death.

Eli was united in Holy Matrimony to Gladys Marie White on December 13, 1962. To this union, five children were born; Sheila, (twins) Debbie and Darren, Terryll, and Ticona.

Eli was employed at Harmon Automotive in Bolivar, TN from 1965 to 1998 as a rack builder/welder. In the later years, he was employed by Hardeman County Schools on the custodial staff.

Eli was preceded in death by his son, Darren, and his siblings; Deanna Morrow, Mamie Anderson, Luther Joy, Robert Lee Joy, James Joy, Lizzie Mae Taylor, Thomas Joy, Clenora Stafford, Jeannie Price, Louis Joy, Rosie Murrell, and Harriet Polk.

Eli departed this life for his heavenly home on Monday, February 18, 2019. He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted wife, Gladys Joy, three daughters; Sheila (Larry) Joy-Martin, Debbie (Calvin) Jones, and Ticona Joy: two sons; Terryll (Latasha) Joy, and Jerry (Willette) Taylor: four brothers-in-law; Earl White, Floyd White, Earnest White, and O’Neal Stafford: six sisters-in-law; Evelyn Joy, Irene Joy, Opal Adams, Bertha Adams, Anna Douglas, and Irene Herron. He also leaves his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
