A Life Remembered
On April 7, 1931 Geanie Bell Higgs was born to the late John Wade and Minnie Lee Franklin. She departed this life on December 23, 2018.
Her funeral service was held on Saturday December 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at Greater Springfield MB Church with Pastor Robert Parham in charge. Burial was in the Bolivar Community cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
She was raised in Hardeman County, TN, where she attended school.
She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Greater Springfield Church where she remained a member until her death. She served on
the Mother Board until her health failed when she could no longer serve. She worked at Bolivar Industrial High school and later at Hillhaven Nursing Home until she retired.
She was a loving mother who cared deeply for her family. She instilled great values in them to carry them throughout life. She taught her children love and respect for her, for one another and most of all for God. She was a welcoming foster parent and served as a mother figure to many children in the neighborhood. She loved to garden, cook, can and quilt. She was an asset to her community, her church, her family and friends. She was well loved by every one that knew her and will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her three sons, William, Thomas, Edward, a granddaughter, Pamela, three brothers and one sister.
She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters: Velma (Charlie) Holt of Memphis, TN, Martha (Gene) Shields, Betty (Jessie) Chism of Bolivar, TN, Dianne Kirnes Of Huntsville, AL, one son: Davis Higgs of Bolivar, TN and two foster sons: David and Lorenzo Wilkes of Bolivar, TN. She also leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Imogene Blalock of Denmark, TN, 13 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, relatives, and a loving church family. She also leaves special friends Doris Perry, Doris Scott and Glenda Valentine.
