Jethro Norment Jr. passed away on Thursday December 7, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. He was born December 25, 1953 and was raised in Chicago, Illinois. He was the second of five children born to Jethro, Sr. and Doris Norment. 

His memorial service was held on Thursday December 28, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Jerome Boyd Chapel at Dixie Funeral Home.  His burial was in the Union Hill Cemetery in Whiteville and    Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.

He graduated from Chicago Vocational High School, Chicago, IL in 1971 and lived for a couple years with his grandfather in Whiteville, TN before joining the U.S. Army in 1976.  Upon returning from his time in the military, he took a position with Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, where he worked for over 25 years until he was granted an early retirement in 2010.  Although he did not marry or have children, he loved all of his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. 

After his retirement, Jethro devoted much of his time and energy into enjoying the latter part of his life with his friends and colleagues in Chicago, but he always said,  “Whiteville is my home.”  He was in the process of planning a final move to Tennessee to live the remainder of his life, when he suddenly passed away, December 7th, 2017.

Jethro Norment Jr. is survived by his sisters, Perry–Gene Cross of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Arsenia Reardanz (Carl) of Milan, Tennessee, Toya R. Norment and Tamatha Smith (Edward) of Chicago, Illinois; brother, Ivan T. Norment (Barbara) of Chicago, Illinois.  One aunt, Bernestine Frazier of St. Louis, Missouri; three nieces, Natasha, Talona and Tamyra; four nephews, Eugene, Shawn, Ivan Tyree and Anthony; thirteen great nieces and nephews, many dear cousins, other close relatives and many life long friends.
