Mr. Jimmie Lee Griggs Jr. (Bubba) was born on June 2, 1942 the first born of four siblings to Mr. Jimmie Lee Griggs Sr. and Mrs. Netter Mae Boyd Griggs in Bolivar, Tennessee.

His funeral service was held on Tuesday March 12, 2019 at God’s House of Promise Ministries at 11:00 am with Pastor Sammy “Bobby” Davis in charge of the service.  Burial was in the Green Grove MB Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

On March 5, 2019, Jimmie’s work was done and he was called home by his heavenly Father. He attended Sugar Hill Elementary School (Hoods) and Bolivar Industrial High School. He professed his hope in Christ at New Bethel M.B. Church in Bolivar, TN. at an early age. Jimmie married his childhood sweetheart, Cleaster Dickerson on December 11, 1961. Shortly after getting married, this young couple moved to Chicago and joined Hopeful M.B. Church where Jimmie faithfully served on the Usher Board and Deacon Board. To this beautiful union two sons were born; Wayne and Derric Griggs.

God blessed Jimmie with many gifts and talents. He had a passion for music. He sang in both The Male Quartet and in The Male Chorus. He happily filled in any gaps every time his church called upon him. Jimmie was a Good and Faithful Servant. He was a devoted member of the North Star Lodge #1, Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Illinois Free and Accepted Masons for over 30 years.

Jimmie worked as a truck driver for Zenith for over 20 years and another 20 years at E & L Transport Company before retiring. Jimmie was full of life and was a blessing to many by being a father figure during his life, he claim many of these children as his own when asked. Jimmie's laughter was infectious and could be heard throughout the room. He loved the Lord, gave great hugs, smiled often and saw the bright side of every situation. Jimmie was also known for how well he put together an outfit, leaving no pair of boots alone without a three-piece suit and hat! Preceding his death were his parents; Jimmie Lee Sr. and Netter Mae Griggs, his two children; Wayne and Derric Griggs.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cleaster Griggs, his son, Tracy Gerald Williamson, grandson Travon Smith (Vivian), great grandson Javier David, two foster sons, Rashaun Pledger and Joseph Hatchett, his brother Robert Griggs, (Jessie) of Chicago, IL, two sisters, Willie Mae Griggs and Louise Crisp of Bolivar, TN and a host of god children, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
