LEO MCKINNIE

November 28, 1955 ~ April 20, 2017 (age 61)

Mr. Leo Burnette McKinnie was born on November 28, 1955 to the Late Leo and Jennie Lou McKinnie in Hardeman County TN. He departed his life on April 20, 2017 at the Alive Hospice in Madison TN.

His funeral service was held on Saturday April 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Hillfied MB Church with Minister Patrick Spencer in charge. Burial was in the Bolivar Community Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

Leo professed Christ at an early age at Campbell Chapel Baptist Church. He relocated to Nashville where he joined Berean Baptist Church. He later moved his membership to Morning Star Baptist Church where he was a faithful male chorus member and usher up until the time of his illness.

Leo graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 1973. He made the All-West Tennessee Conference Team in football. He enjoyed working with his hands and his passion was construction and doing concrete work. Leo also enjoyed playing and listening to music. His favorite instrument was the bass guitar. He enjoyed playing with the Hartman Park Band of Nashville TN. He loved practicing on his music and in the morning listening to “WDIA 1470 FM” talk show.

Leo was preceded in death by his father Leo McKinnie and his mother Jennie Lou McKinnie and his son Tremaine McKinnie and his grandson Patrick “PJ” Spencer.

Leo leaves to cherish his memories: Three sons Patrick Spencer of Jackson, TN, Keanon (Brandi) McKinnie of Huntingdon TN, Dravon McKinnie of Atlanta, GA. One daughter Prenticea McKinnie of Huntingdon, TN. Three sisters his twin Cleo Poplar, Marie (Roy) Hudson, and Vickie McKinnie all of Bolivar TN. Seven grandchildren and a very special friend whom he adored Ms. Gloria Boyd of Nashville, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
