MABLE ALICE COCHRAN

February 25, 1938 ~ December 8, 2017 (age 79)

Mable Alice Wilburn Cochran was born February 25, 1938 to the late Major Wilburn Sr. and  Lethia Williams Wilburn in Hardeman County, Tennessee.
God called Mable home to receive her crown of righteousness  on December 8, 2017 at Jackson -Madison General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Her funeral service was held on Saturday December 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Greater Springfield MB Church in Bolivar, Tn with Pastor Robert Parham in charge and burial in the Bolivar Community Cemetery. Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service. 
Mable was one of seven children. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death: George Washington, Jasper, Ernest Wilburn, and Annie Louise Wilburn Jestice.
At an early age in life, Mable accepted Christ as her personal savior at Clover Chapel Missionary, and later joined Greater Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member until her departure. She attended school in Hardeman County where she was the Valedictorian of her ninth-grade class.
Mable worked at several establishments to provide for her family, but her main place of employment was Western Mental Health Institute where she was employed for thirty years.
Mable was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and gran- gran, she was a watchful neighbor and friend too many. She was a giving person, a person who had a passion for taking care of those that were unable to take care of themselves. Even during her sickness, she continued to encourage others.
Mable was a member of the choir, the usher board, kitchen committee, and served on the Mother Board until her health failed her.
Mable married Charles Gatlin Sr. of Hardeman County, Tennessee and to this union three children were born: Charles Jr., Evelyn, and Debra. She later married Albert Cochran of Forrest City, AR., and to this union two children were born: Karen and Rodney. Albert also raised her three older children as his own.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons Charles (Carrie) Gatlin Jr. and Rodney Cochran of Bolivar, TN; three daughters Evelyn (Anthony) Smith of Oakland, TN; Debra (Jerry) Griffin of Bolivar, TN, and Karen (Joel) Mandujano of Brighton, CO, and a great-grandson Keyon Bills Jr., whom she raised as her own son. She also leaves one brother Major Wilburn and one sister Ophelia (Willie) Parks Sr. both of Bolivar, TN. She assisted in raising two other young women as her own as well: Judy and the late Jane Knuckolls; twelve grandchildren Shay Gatlin Murden, Natassa Gatlin Powell, Shanay Griffin McMillian, Tekelae Gatlin Tucker, Charles Gatlin III, Jerry Griffin II, Jermel Griffin, Terrell Cochran, Taylor Cochran, Tenille Cochran, Joel Mandujano II, and Soraya Mandujano; seven great-grand children Carlos Perry, Darion Williams, Keith Murden Jr., Malaney Gatlin, Katilyn Powell, Jerry Griffin III, and Astin Gatlin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She will be known as a Queen of Queens!!
