Maggie Mae (Puckett) Bills

OCTOBER 8, 1920 ~ MAY 27, 2018 (AGE 97)


Maggie Mae Puckett Bills was born October 08, 1920; the third (3rd) child of eleven born
to the late Mr. Jim and Mrs. Fannie Mae Puckett in Hickory Valley,TN. She was educated
in the public Schools Hardeman County. Three sisters: Gussie, Rachel, and Mae Lou;
three brothers: John, James, and Roy preceded her in death.

Her funeral service was held on Saturday June 2, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Zion Temple Worship Center-Bolivar.  Burial was in the Bolivar Community Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service.


Maggie Mae Puckett married Mr. William Henry Bills. This union produced eleven children.
She was a homemaker who made her house a loving home for her family. Three of her
children preceded her in death: John, Hattie and Baby Boy. Three sons-in-law, James
Bowden, Morgan Robinson and Evol “Tee” McNeal also preceded her in death.
Maggie Mae accepted Christ and became a member of Antioch Baptist Church and later
joined Light House Temple Holiness Church where she remained faithful until her health
failed. Maggie was a God fearing woman who loved the Lord, and enjoyed spreading love
throughout the community to everyone. She enjoyed feeding and taking care of others. (If
she ate, then you ate). Maggie was a resident of Bolivar Housing for 49 yrs and those who
lived there knew and loved her dearly.
On May 27, 2018 God dispatched an angel to the room of Mother Maggie Bills at Pine
Meadows Healthcare Center in Bolivar, TN. Obeying the command of our Heavenly
Father, he lovingly separated her Soul from an ailing body and carried her to a place of
rest to await the return of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mother Maggie’s departed this life leaving a legacy of loving and caring for her five
daughters:Ms. Gussie McNeal, Essie Bowden, Fannie Robinson, Catherine Bills (Cliff),
Gertrude Bills (Kelvin); three sons: Jimmie Bills, Wesley Bills, Finest Bills, all of Bolivar,
TN; twenty-one grand children; a host of great grands and great great grandchildren; one
brother, Moses Puckett of Hickory Valley, TN; two sisters: Mable Barnett of Bolivar, TN,
Dorothy Bills of Chicago, IL; special friends of the family: Mr. L. C. & Mrs. Diane Stewart
and the Ford Famil
