Michael Evans Dotson
AUGUST 15, 1966 ~ DECEMBER 15, 2018 (AGE 52)
My parents are James and Ocie Dotson Holmes. My mother told me that I was born on August 15, 1966 in Hardeman County, TN. I am the oldest of six children, one brother; Keith Dotson preceded me in death.
His funeral service was held on Saturday December 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Johnson Chapel CME Church with Reverend Larry Hughes in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
I attended Whiteville Elementary School and graduated in 1984 from Central High School in Bolivar, TN. I continued my studies at the University of Tennessee in Martin, TN.
When I was 10 years old I became a member of Johnson Chapel CME Church in Whiteville, TN an I served as a Jr. Usher.
July 12, 1996, I married Latosha Pruitt, we did not have any children. Even though I had no biological children, I loved spoiling my nieces and nephews. They affectionately called me “Uncle Mike” and my sisters called me ‘Bug Baby”.
I was an employee of the State of Tennessee for 20 year, until challenging health problems caused me to retire. Although my physical body was ill and I suffered a lot of pain, my spirit remained strong, for I knew I had the love and support of my family. There was always love in our home. If I needed someone to look up to, all I had to do was look across the room at my father and mother. They were my role models. So I still say, “Life has been good to me.”
I loved sports, football and basketball. My friends: Roscoe, Eric, Ernest, and I were called, ‘The Four Horsemen’. Some called me ‘Pimp’ even though I have NEVER been a Pimp.
My greatest joy in life came when I developed a real relationship with God and was ordained a Steward of Johnson Chapel CME Church where I grew up. Even though my physical body limited my mobility many times, I never gave up. God knew me best and knew what was best for me. I am at ‘PEACE’ and all is ‘Well with my Soul’.
Although I am no longer with you physically, just remember all the joy, laughter, memories, and good times we shared together. Always love one another as God has commanded us to do. Do good, laugh a lot, keep God first, until we meet again!
