SHIRLEY HORNSBY

APRIL 28, 1939 ~ JANUARY 23, 2018 (AGE 78)

Shirley Hornsby, 78, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis following a brief illness.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Roy Hornsby; mother Eudola Keel, brother Billy Joe Keel and sister Betty Jean Lomax. She leaves two step children: Julie James (Jesse), Richard Hornsby (Robbie); two nieces: Michelle Harrison, Tamara Easton, and two nephews Kelly Lomax (Melinda), Bill Keel (Anna), two beloved dogs Amy and Abby, and many close and dear friends.

Born in Arkansas and raised in Missouri she was a resident of Memphis Tennessee for 36 years where she worked at Commercial Appeal as a typesetter and then owned her own business, Hicks Composition Service, with her husband Roy. She and Roy retired to Middleton, TN where they led an active life in the community. Shirley was a member of the Civitan Club and ran her church’s food pantry.

Memorial Service held on February 3, 2018 at 11:00 am at Middleton United Methodist Church. Interment will follow.
