Willie (Buddy) Golden, Sr.

NOVEMBER 25, 1929 ~ JULY 4, 2019 (AGE 89)

Mr. Willie (Buddy) Golden, Sr. of Bolivar passed away on Thursday July 4, 2019 at home.  Has born in Whiteville to the late Henry and Mary Eliza Norment Golden.

His funeral service was held on Saturday July 13, 2019 at Union Hill MB Church with Pastor Jerry Crisp in charge.  Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service. 

He accepted Jesus Christ at a young age and joined Union Hill MBC where he served faithfully as a Deacon and Trustee until his health failed.  In his honor the church finance room was named the Golden Room. 

He was educated in the Hardeman County public schools and graduated from Allen-White School in 1948.  In 1953 he entered into the United States Army.  He served until 1955 and shortly after that he entered LeMoyne-Owen Collge (Memphis) and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelors degree in Education.  

While in college he worked at the Peabody Hotel and after college he finished he was employed with the Hardeman County public schools as a teacher at Union Springs School.  He later taught at Allen-White, Grand Junction, Middleton Elementary and Bolivar Middle School.  H retired in 1993 with over thirty years of service.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Sharon Golden; a grandson, Tobarian Williams; brothers, Charles, James and George Norment; sisters, Helen Vandiver, Louise Selmer, Lou Emma Smith, Rose Emma Norment, Laura Gatewood and Lou Pinella-Ball.

He leaves to cherish his memory daughters, Denise (James) Smith, Serita (Nolan) Wilkes and Rose (Charles) Windless; sons, Charles (Linda) Fortney, Willie, Jr. and Cedric Golden; sisters, Gizzella Jones, Faye Bowers, Sadie Bufford, Terri Norment and Carolyn (Sammy) Lewis; twelve grand children, sixteen great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends that will truly miss him.
