83 Years Old
Alexander Scott was born June 18, 1941 to Ernest and Ula Mae Pirtle in Whiteville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Brenda Polk; one son, Alex Scott and six siblings.
Alexander was a lifelong resident of Whiteville. He attended Whiteville Public Schools. He gave his life to Christ at an early age, uniting with Bartlett Chapel CME Church where he remained a member until his passing.
His funeral service was held on Saturday March 29, 2025 at 11:00 am at Union Hill MB Church in Whiteville, Tn with Pastor Susie Taylor in charge. Burial was in the Barlett Chapel CME Church Cemetery in Whiteville, Tn and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
“Zan”, as he was affectionately called was well known in the Hardeman County community. He was a kind hearted person, helping anyone he could. Alexander was employed at Western State Mental Institute for several years. He retired from Sequentia after twenty years of service.
With loving and precious memories: He leaves his wife of fifty-one years, Dorothy Jean Scott; three sons, Dale (Twana) Scott of Petersburg, VA, Charles (Sandra) Miller of Nashville, TN, and Allen Scott of Texas; two daughters, Stella Lockett of Rockford, IL and Josephine Montgomery of Whiteville, TN; three brothers, Larry (Charlotte) Bufford, Ruben Bufford, and Dwight Pate; eight sisters, Corinthia (Bobby) Hayes, Lucy Allen, Emma Bufford, Rosanna Gordon, Etta McNealy, Carlos Williams, Judy Pelcher, and Martha Scott; one great aunt, Mabel Jones and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He also leaves individuals from the neighborhood and community that was treated as children and grandchildren.
“Zan” will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
