Almeta Carrington Crisp Whitford, 82, passed away on Thursday May 2, 2024.  
She was born on February 8, 1942 to Professor Jimmy and June Crisp and was the eldest of two girls.

Her funeral service was held on Saturday May 11, 2024 at 11:00 am at Zion Temple Worship Center with Elder Wendell K. Sain in charge.  Burial was in the Whitford Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

She grew up in the Cloverport/Toone area and joined Clover Chapel MB Church at a young age.  She was educated in the Hardeman County public schools and in 1959 graduated from Allen-White School-Whiteville.

On November 15, 1961 she married Edward Whitford and they were married thirty-nine years until his death.  The relationship produced six children, Richard Lee, Terry Lynn, Edward, Jr., Martha Jean, Resa Ann and Terial.  

She was a person with many gifts, interior decorating, baking and cooking, and an anointed gospel singer.  

In 1968 she joined Zion Temple COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Tommie McTizic.  In 1984 she received a Deconess license.  She served the church as custodian and cafateria supervisor until 2018.  

In 2008 she married Pastor Lazarous Lake and remained with him until his death.  

Preceding her in death were her parents and spouses;  her sister, Canary Bond, one daughter, Martha Jean and two sons, Richard and Terry Lynn.  

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Resa Ann (Lavern) White, Terial Whitford and Edward, Jr.; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends that will truly miss her.
