Annie Murphy Obituary

Annie Mae Murphy

February 8, 1946 ~ December 20, 2021 (age 75)

Annie Mae Murphy, 75, passed away on Monday December 20, 2021 in Nashville.  She was born in Hardeman County on February 8th, 1946,  to the late Sam McGuire, Sr. and Willie Kate “Bluchie” McGuire.

Her funeral service is scheduled for Monday December 27, 2021 at 2:30 pm at the Jerome Boyd Chapel at Dixie Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Champ Williams in charge.  Burial will be in the Union Springs Church Cemetery with Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com in charge of the professional service.

She grew up in Whiteville, TN with her 6 siblings and a handful of nieces and nephews in Whiteville, TN.

She professed hope and love for Christ in her early teenage years and joined Union Springs Baptist Church.

Annie attended Allen White School in Hardeman County where she met her late husband Willie (Sampson) Murphy during her high school years in the 1960's.

She graduated in 1965 and later moved to Bolivar, TN where she lived in Oak Cove to help guide her children and grandchildren on their journey through life.

She worked as a seamstress in Whiteville, TN for H.I.S. and later was a supervisor for Read's Manufacturing in Walnut, MS. She later became a caregiver in Whiteville caring for those in need of daily care.

Annie was a homebody and those who know and loved her knew that you needed to go to her home to get her to share her photos, salt and pepper shakers, or her love for animals (cats, fish, and dogs). She was caring and kindhearted but didn’t play any games.

If you knew her then you knew she was community granny. All were welcome and all were hers. If you called her on the phone the quote “I love you more” was her goodbye. She did not say bye on the telephone. When her health started to take a turn; her daughters moved her to Nashville. TN where she was able to spend her last few months living life with her kids and grandkids; bonding with them in ways that they will cherish for a lifetime with photos of these memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willie (Sampson) Murphy, and one sibling Katherine McGuire. God called Annie Mae home on December 20th, 2021.

Those who will cherish all her precious memories are her two beautiful daughters Janette “Hunchie” Johnson and Delphia “Precious” Murphy that reside in Nashville, TN. Granddaughters Sekita McGuire (Mario) and Ri’an MurphyWilson (Joshua), and 5 great grandkids. She also leaves behind her siblings U.L. Sain (Laura), Lucille Davis Sam McGuire Jr. (Ruthie), J.W. McGuire (Toni) Gladia Perry (Leroy) and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
