Bettie Bell Herron

November 15, 1933 ~ July 6, 2021 (age 87)

Bettie Bell Wilkes Herron of Whiteville passed away on Tuesday July 6, 2021.  She was born on November 15, 1933 to the late William Gibbs and Lubertha Miller.

Her funeral service was held on Saturday July 10, 2021 at Simon Chapel MB Church at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jefery Bledsoe in charge.  Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

She attended Manasses High School-Memphis and Allen-White School-Whiteville.  She retired from employment at Wester Mental Health after thirty years of service and late became a foster grandmother at Whiteville Elementery School.

She accepted Jesus Christ and joined Johnson Chapel Church.  She later joined Simon Chapel where she served as church secretary, Sunday School teacher and BTU teacher.

She married Nora Lee Wilkes and later Robert Herron.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Lee Norris and Terrence "Ray" Wilkes and one daughter, Annette Givhan.  

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, James Thomas and Belinda Gibbs, Gwendolyn Faye (James) Selmer, Rafus Wilkes, Sandra Robinson, Nolan (Serita)Wilkes, Darren (Delene) Price and Michelle (Wayne) Jackson; three step children, Robert Lee, Mike and Betty Herron; twenty-five grandchildren and fifty-six great grandchildren and thirteen great, great grandchildren;  Many other relatives and friends that will truly miss her.
