84 Years Old
Mr. Boss McKinnie , Jr. was born March 6, 1940 to the late Boss Monroe McKinnie, Sr. and Lula Mae Hodge McKinnie. On Friday, September 13, 2024, Boss peacefully answered the Lord’s call at Maplewood Health Care Center in Jackson TN after a lengthy illness.
His funeral service was held on Saturday September 21, 2024 at 2:0 pm @ the Greater New Hope MB Church with Reverend Bradley Patterson in charge. Burial was in the Bolivar Community Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
Preceding him in death are his wife of 45 years, Alma Jean Hunt McKinnie, one sister Mary Jean Jones and 3 great grandchildren. Upon accepting Christ at an early age, he joined New Hope MB Church in Hickory Valley TN. He later joined Greater New Hope Church where he served as a faithful Deacon. He was a member of the choir and Male Chorus member until his health failed. His professional journey led him to Shelby County, where he was employed and retired. During his many years, he served as a sanitation worker, the county dog catcher and retired as a custodian for the Health Department. He was awarded an honorary commendation from Mayor Willie Herrington for his outstanding performance. After retirement, he served as a volunteer Grandparent and delivered meals for the Head Start Program through Southwest Human Resources in Grand Junction TN. Throughout his life, Boss remained a devoted Christian, deeply rooted in his faith. He was a loving husband while he was married and father of 6 for 60 years. He was known throughout his community as “Pee Paw”. Those who will cherish and honor his memories include: two daughters, Gloria (Phillip, Sr.) Jones of Toone TN, Joyce (Ronald) Bass of Bolivar TN; four sons, James Dennis McKinnie of Collierville TN, Steven (Brandy) McKinnie of Jackson TN, Darry (Laverne) McKinnie of Rossville TN, Frederick (Toni) McKinnie of Jackson TN; four sisters, Betty Bordon of Rockford IL , Mae Ella Parham of San Diego CA, Martha (Roy) Jones of Bolivar TN, and Nancy (Ronald) Cole of Jackson TN; one brother, Issac (Rose) McKinnie of Rockford IL; sister in law, Olean Beard of Hickory Valley TN; two brothers-in-law, Minister James Jones of Toone TN and Nathaniel Hardaway of Omaha NE; twenty-three grandchildren, forty-two greatgrandchildren, five great-great grand-children; one aunt, Mary Lucille Hunt of Grand Junction TN as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
