85 Years Old
Charles Edward Johnson was born on February 15, 1939 to the late Jessie and Nettie Johnson.
His funeral service was held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Jerome Boyd Chapel @ DFH with Pastor Algie Jarrett in charge. Burial was in the Oak Hill MB church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service.
Charles peacefully departed this life on August 28, 2024.
Charles attended and graduated high school in Hardeman county, TN.
Charles professed a hope in Christ at an early age. He was a member of Pleasant Hill M.B. Church in Pocahontas, TN until God called him home.
Charles employment history included Dement Construction and Jones Brothers Construction as a Heavy Machine Operator and Bridge Builder. Later in life, he became an over the road Truck Driver and then he later retired.
Charles was united in Holy Matrimony to Dessie Lou Edgeston and to this union, one son was born, Ronnie Edward Johnson.
After eight years of marriage, Dessie Lou preceded him in death.
Later in life, Charles was united in Holy Matrimony to Margaret Woods.
Charles was preceded by his parents, Jessie & Nettie Johnson; his first wife, Dessie Lou; three brothers, Johnnie Johnson, Roosevelt “R.B.” Johnson and Calvin Johnson; four sisters, Magnolia Cole, Izona Davis, Sadie Ham, and Sarah Johnson; one granddaughter, Mary Halton; one nephew, Steven McClellan.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Ronnie (Wanda) Johnson: one sister, Clara Nell Rivers: his nephew, Thomas Earl (Sonya) McClellan: one niece, Nina Mae McClellan: grandson, Donnell (Samantha) Halton: two great grandchildren, Alyssia Lester and MaKynzie Lester: one God-great grandson, Omarion Morris and a host of very special nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
