Charlie Woods
July 28, 1949 ~ July 23, 2026 (age 76)
A life well lived is measured not only by the years we are given, but by the love we share, the faith we keep, and the lives we touch.
Today, we celebrate the life of Charlie Woods, whose journey was rooted in faith, strengthened by family, and filled with music.
Charlie Woods was born on July 28, 1949, in Bolivar, TN to the late Mr. Jim Woods and Lizzie Nelson-Woods.
He attended Hardeman Co. Public Schools and later worked in housing keeping at Western Mental Health Institution.
He was also a Road Supervisor for Tennessee Department of Transportation. From an early age, he grew up in the church (Bethlehem M.B. Church), where he learned the importance of trusting God, serving others, and living with humanity.
The church was more than a place he attended-it was the foundation that shaped his character and guided him throughout his life.
He later joined Jones Grove Baptist Church in Hickory Valley, TN where he was a part of the music ministry and remained a faithful member. One of his greatest joys was playing the guitar. Whether he was playing in church, among family, or simply enjoying a quiet moment, his music spoke from the heart. Every note reflected his passion, his faith, and the joy he found in bringing people together.
On March 19, 1976, Charlie married Elma R. Tisdale. This union lasted 50 years, and 2 kids were born.
Above all else, he loved his family. They were his greatest blessings, and he treasured every moment spent with them. He was a source of love, wisdom, encouragement, and strength. His presence brought comfort, his laughter brought smiles, and his unwavering devotion left a lasting impression on everyone that was fortunate to know him. His life reminds us that true greatness is found in living with faith, loving deeply, and serving others with a willing heart. Though his earthly journey has come to an end, the memories he created, the lessons he taught, the music he shared, and the love he gave will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. While we grieve his absence, we also celebrate the beautiful legacy he leaves behinda legacy of faith, family, kindness, and love. May we honor his memory by carrying those same values with us each day.
His loving spirit will be cherished and remembered by his lovely wife Elma Woods: three children: Charlene Hudson, Marshall Woods, and Michelle Woods all of Bolivar, TN; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
