Chester Lee Cross
March 14, 1953 ~ October 8, 2025 (age 72)
Today, we celebrate the homegoing of our beloved Chester Lee “Hamp” Cross. He was born on March 14, 1952, in Hardeman County, TN, to the late Mr. Noble Cross, Sr., and Mrs. Doretha Woods Cross.
His funeral service was held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Union Hill MB Church in Whiteville, Tn. Pastor Ernest Polk was in charge and the burial was in the Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
Hamp was employed with what was then Kilgore Flares. Later, and until his retirement, he was employed with Harmon Automotive in Bolivar, TN, from 1973 to 1998.
Hamp was a highly skilled automotive mechanic who worked for himself until his health began to fail. He attended Whiteville High School in Whiteville, TN. Hamp professed his love for Christ at an early age at Union Springs, M.B. Church.
Three (3) brothers preceded him in death: Noble Cross, Jr., Tommie R. (Annie) Cross Sr., and Gaylon Cross.
Hamp leaves to cherish his memories, his two (2) daughters, LaTonia (Robert) Turner and Sherric (Cameron) Crisp of Bolivar, TN. Seven (7) brothers, Larry (Rosie) Cross, U.L. (Darlene) Cross, Stanley (Tina) Cross, Kenneth (Barbara) Cross of Whiteville, TN., Benjamin Cross, Leslie Cross of Bolivar, TN., and Audural (Molly) Cross of Lexington, TN. Four (4) sisters, Rebecca Woods of St. Louis, Missouri, Daisy Minter of Whiteville, TN., Lousie Cross of Bolivar, TN., and Cheryl (Kevin) Turner of Jackson, TN. Four (4) grandchildren, Nikia Robinson, Jr., Tamaya Turner, Coby Crisp, and Cameron Crisp, Jr, and one (1) great-grandchild, Lo’yal Robinson. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends that will miss him dearly.
