Coren Reaves
September 7, 1924 ~ July 1, 2020 (age 95)
Coren Reaves - Queen of all Oueens – loved and revered by all who knew her! Born September 7, 1924 to the late Shiloh Cheairs and Idell Sain in Hickory Valley, TN.
Her Graveside service was held on Friday July 10, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Pastor Melvin Bufford in charge and Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service.
She attended school in the Hardeman Couty School System. She gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Mt. Salem Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully, as a Mother of the church, until she was no longer able to physically attend. Additionally, she simultaneously attended Bowden Chapel CME
Church, where her husband served as Deacon for their entire marriage.
Her life of 95 years is marked with her care and devotion to; her late husband of 63 years; 13 children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and giving them instructions and directions for living a godly life.
She was extremely devoted to her church and followed the leadership of her Pastor until her departure to be with the Lord. Coren was diligent in her walk with the Lord. She worked tirelessly to provide a stable and spiritual foundation for not only her children and all descendants, but everyone who entered her home. She was known by all as one of the most precious, loving, loyal and not to mention, the best dressed Mother in this area. She leaves behind, for us, a legacy of a godly woman, a woman full of grace, love, wisdom and a role model for everyone who came in contact with her. Her daughter, Pastor Pauline, calls her a Prophet in her own right. What most people did not know about Coren was her wonderful sense of humor and her love for basketball. Something that even her children were not aware of until the latter years of her life.
Proverbs 31:10, 25, 26, 27 describes our Mom as “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her
husband also, and he praiseth her.”
In her most recent days, God gave her supernatural strength to enjoy her family, friends and loved ones. And believe you me, we as a family, enjoyed and thanked God daily for what He was doing in her life.
She departed this life on July 1, 2020 at Jackson-Madison County Hospital in Jackson, TN. Coren Reaves was preceded in death by her husband; William O. Reaves and her infant daughter; Dorethea Reaves; son, Thomas Reaves; 4 brothers Jerry Lee Cheairs, Sylvester Cheairs, Shiloh Cheairs and Roosevelt Cheairs, and 1 step-sister; Liddie Puckett.
Today she leaves to cherish her memory; 4 sons; William (Lana) Reaves of Bonaire, GA; Billy (Louise) Reaves of Bolivar, TN; James (Pam) Reaves of
