David Bowden, Sr. Obituary

Minister David Bowden, Sr.

January 23, 1959 ~ January 11, 2021 (age 61)

Minister David Bowden, Sr. of Bolivar passed away on Monday January 11, 2021.  He was born January 23, 1959 and was one of eleven children born to William and
Hattie Mae Bowden of Saulsbury, Tennessee.

His Graveside Service was held on Saturday January 16, 2021 at the Pleasant Grove Saulsbury Church Cemetery with Elder Dajuan Herron in charge. Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the Professional Service.

David confessed a belief in the LORD JESUS CHRIST at an early age. He became member of Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church in Saulsbury, Tennessee. This was his family church and it was there that began loving GOD and loving to serve others
He attended Grand Junction Elementary School and Middleton High School. He graduated from high school in May of 1978. A month later, he was hired at Biltrite Ripley Operations where he remained employed until his death. He met the love of his life, Debra Woods, in 1979. They were married in August of 1985. To this union, two children were born, David (Latoya)
Bowden and Quintessa S. Bowden. Devoted husband, adoring father, loving son, caring brother, nephew, cousin, loyal friend, and man of GOD are all words that describe him. He
was ordained October 30, 2005. A strong faith in CHRIST, family encouragement, and a desire to serve others were his sources of strength. When he spoke about GOD, he would get so excited. He had a gift for explaining the Word plainly. He loved the LORD wholeheartedly. Through the years, he grew deeper in his relationship with the LORD. On January 11, 2021, after a short illness, Minister Bowden departed this life at Jackson General Hospital. His heavenly Father called him home – to be absent from the body is to be present with the
Lord (2 Cor. 5:8b). Now at the sunset of his life are those left to remember and cherish his life. They Are his devoted wife Debra Woods Bowden; his children David (Latoya) Bowden and Quintessa Bowden; Two grandchildren: Janiyah and Jeremiah Jones; Three goddaughters: Trina Bumpus, Tommie Rhodes, and Chari Williams; Three brothers: Jerry (Lynn) Bowden of Jacksonville, NC, Leo (Diane) Bowden, Holly Springs, MS, Willl Henry Bowden; Three sisters: Mose Ella (Arzell) Sain and Alice Justice, both of Bolivar, and Rose Etta (Bim Bala)
Olaniyon, Saulsbury. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, special relatives and friends who will miss his kind spirit.
