Dennis Edward Crowder was born January 17, 1962, in Hardeman County, Tennessee. He transitioned from his earthly dwellings to be with the Lord on August 9, 2025.
His funeral service was held on Saturday, August 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Old Bethel MB Church. Burial was in the Independent Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
He was born to Charles E. Crowder and the late Dorothy Jean Rivers Wilson.
He received his education in the Hardeman County School System. After graduating from Bolivar Central High School, he attended Tennessee State University.
Dennis accepted Christ at an early age at Antioch Baptist Church. He later joined Old Bethel M.B. Church. It was at Old Bethel where he expressed his talent for singing. He was a faithful member of the choir and he was a member and sang with Little Melvin and the Christianaires. After relocating to Jackson, Tennessee, he joined Home Baptist Church.
Dennis had two passions, one football and driving trucks. Dennis was a standout in football at Bolivar Central High School where he earned the nicknames, “Big D” and “Big Q”, this athleticism granted him the opportunity to play football at TSU where he earned the names “Rock” and “Rockhead”. He was a truck driver for various trucking companies throughout his driving career until his death.
He was currently employed with Venture Conquest On March 17, 1989, Dennis married Tammy L. Dean. To this union, only one child was born, Bryson Edward Crowder. Later in life, Dennis married Charlene Sanders Crowder.
Dennis rarely was seen upset, He enjoyed keeping others uplifted and always had something to say. He enjoyed life, loved making jokes, and making people laugh. He loved to cook, eat, fish and watch football.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy J. Wilson; one brother, Charles Crowder, Jr.; grandparents, Willie B. Rivers and Mattie Rivers and Clara Crowder and one uncle, Willie D. Rivers. Dennis leaves to cherish his memory: his father, Charles E. Crowder; one son, Bryson; Seth Crowder, whom he raised as his own; siblings Vanessa (Arthur) Rucker, Kimberlyn Wilson, Patsy (Donnie) Allen, Bolivar, TN, Constance (Kirk) Perry, Nashville, TN, Antonio Hendrix and Danita (Jesse) Brantley both of Detroit, MI, Daryel (Sharon) Kelly, Tampa, FL, Sean (Leticia) Glass, Memphis, TN, Tamiko Brown, Detroit, MI, Christopher Valentine, Houston, TX; uncles, Joe Frank Crowder and Thomas (Beulah) Crowder both of Nashville, TN, Jewel (Shelley) Crowder, Valdosta, GA, Ernest (Mary) Crowder, Nashville, TN, Will Sidney Crowder, Baltimore, MD; aunts, Carrie Crowder McGowan, Bolivar, TN, Sylestine (Greg) McQueen, and Trudy Cro wder Hicks both of Jackson, TN; last living great aunts, Ruby Bass, Whiteville, TN and Norma Mebane, Yuma, TN; and a very special friend, Sherilyn Gatlin. Dennis also leaves nieces, nephews, (special nieces and nephews that knew him as Uncle Den Den), cousins, other relatives, family, friends and coworkers.
