Don Edward Skates was born October 26, 1953 to the late Robert Lee & Gladys McNeal Skates.

His funeral service was held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Dixie Funeral Home.  Burial was in the Bethlehem MB Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.

Don attended Hardeman County Schools and obtained his high school diploma. Following high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corp. He excelled in taking the entry exam. He later joined the National Guard.

Don accepted Christ as his Lord & Savior and was baptized at Bethlehem Church.

Don was passionate about helping others (yardwork, math, homework). He enjoyed fishing, bingo, listening to music, taking care of cats. He was very energetic person who enjoyed walking.

Don was preceded by his parents, Robert Lee & Gladys McNeal Skates; two brothers, Joe (Lizzie) McNeal and Robert Lee Scates, Jr.

Don leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Daphene (John) Sanders Hunt and Tyrone (Aundrea) Prather: four grandchildren: three sisters, Lavera Wilkes, Betty Skates, and Diane Simpson: two brothers, Tony Skates and Rickey Skates and a host of family and friends.
