Dorothy Hudson, 68, of Jackson passed away on Saturday May 27, 2023.  She was born on February 27, 1955 to the late Bessie Mae Stanley Hudson and Lindsey Strickland.

Her funeral service was held on Saturday June 10, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Jerome Boyd Chapel at Dixie funeral Home with Reverend Nathan Gibbs in charge.  Burial was in the Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery at Parkers Crossroad and Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) was in charge of the professional service.

She was a graduate of Bolivar Central High School and Tennessee State University where majored in Hospital Administration.  She was a member of the Air Force ROTC program and after graduation entered the United States Air Force.  She entered the Air Force Health Care Science Administrator Progrm and graduated as the first African American female to complete the program. In 1982 she was discharged from service as a first Lieutenant.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mary Lee Blakemore, Lindsey Strickland, Ruthie Mae Stanley, Tommett, Katherine and Olivar Hudson, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Mersheila Ayers and Iverous (Reunite) Hudson; eleven grandchildren; many other relatives and friends that will truly miss her.
