Dorothy Jones

75 Years Old
Dorothy Jones was born August 24, 1949, in Fayette County, Tennessee to the late Ms. Rosie Mae Herron and Mr. Edward Minter. She attended schools in Fayette County and Hardeman County, Tennessee where she graduated from Allen White High School. She confessed her belief in Christ at an early age and remained a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church in Whiteville, Tennessee. She was married to the late Horace Polk and to this union, one child was born. She later married to Eugene Jones. Two children were born into this union.
Her funeral service was held on Sunday January 19, 2025 at Antioch MB Church with Pastor Jermaine Shaw in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
Doretha, as she was affectionately called, was a dedicated employee of Master Slack Garments and Sequentia Incorporated. Doretha was a talented seamstress who loved beautiful things as well as and enjoyed creating them. After retirement, she continued her love for garments and unique trinkets by working with her sisters at A&R Bargain until her health began to deteriorate.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a gifted individual with numerous talents and enjoyed sharing those gifts with her nieces and nephews. She was a fashionista who enjoyed sewing, refurbishing, and listening to music.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter, Eugenia Jones of Bolivar, TN; a son, Nero Jones of Bolivar, TN; three granddaughters, Ne’Tobia Coleman, Desma Patterson and Desmiyah Jones, all of Bolivar, TN, Shacambria Jones of Tuscumbia, AL; two great-grandsons, Ne’Sir Coleman and Amir Cooper; one great-granddaughter, Brazillya Polk of Tuscumbia, AL. She also leaves two brothers, James Minter, Sr. (Dorothy), John Sain, both of Bolivar, TN; six sisters, Carlo Minter Brewster of Hattisburg, MS, Sharon Minter, Bettie Woods, Waydene Lake, Delois Murphy, and Earlene Minter all of Bolivar, TN; one sister-in-law, Daisy Minter of Bolivar, TN, along with a host of nieces and nephews. Her son, Illya K. Polk; brother, Preston Minter, Sr, and sister, Eula Cross preceded her in death.
