Emogene (Jones) Bowden
March 26, 1940 ~ February 24, 2021 (age 80)
Emogene Jones - Bowden was born on March 26, 1940 to the late Eddie and Jessie Beard - Jones. To this union, she was the baby of 9 children. her siblings: Homer Jones, Samuel Jones, Dempsey Jones, Ollie Mae Hatcher and Lillie Mae Brady, all preceded her in death. She also had siblings of the late Eddie and Evie Horton's union and also of the Kelly descent.
Emogene attended Hardeman County Public Schools and recieved her GED and CNA from Whiteville Voctional School, where she was voted "Most Professional". She worked for Pine Meadows, Home Health care and was a sitter for many families in the community. She was also a pressor and seamstress at Campbell Dry Cleaners for many years and she also helped manage the Bolivar Dry Cleaners.
Mrs. Bowden professed a hope in Christ at an early age at Zion Temple #1 COGIC. After becoming the wife of Walter Lee Bowden, Sr., she became a member of Oak Hill MB Church.
Her graveside service was held on Saturday March 6, 2021 at 12:00 pm in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Saulabury with Pastor Gene Bowden in charge and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com in charge of the professional service.
Emogene was called home to rest on February 24, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memories: 1 son, Walter Jr. (Juanita) Bowden, 2 daughters: Emma Kay (George) Sharp and Cynthia (Melvin) Jones, 3 grandchildren: Natasha (Antoine) Cross, Cherterica Neal and Takerio Bowden; great grandchildren: Curtavious Neal, makayla Neal, Nashae Brown, Zeze Cross, India Chism and Elijah Blaylock; 3 siblings: Agnes "Dorothy" Owens, Ruth McIntosh and Ray (Willie Mae) Jones, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whol loved her dearly.
