A Time to be Born
Mr. Ernest Glen Tisdale was born September 6, 1948 in Whiteville, TN to Mrs. Varnell Tisdale and the late Jesse Lee Tisdale. Ernest was preceded in death by his brother; Lorenzo Tisdale, Sr.: his grandson; Brandon Harris Tisdale: his great granddaughter; Jameria Bufford.  

 A Time to be Buildup
Ernest received his high school diploma from Allen-White in Whiteville, TN in 1966. He continued his education by attending Lane College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971. On December 20, 1967, one of the highlights of his life, he became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. Ernest was employed by WMHI, state of Tennessee for 34 years upon retirement. He served as Director of Vocational Rehabilitation, President of the Southwest Chapter TSEA, many other boards and committees.

A Time to Love
Ernest met his soulmate, the lady of his dreams, Jackie Taylor and fell in love and exchanged marital vows on March 15, 1973. They shared many wonderful and precious memories together until God called him home. Their union was blessed with two sons; Eric and Marlon.
Ernest was a man that stood on principles. He was full of knowledge and wisdom. Ernest was always willing to help anyone who was in need. He had a genuine love for his fellow man. He raised his family in a Christian home, always putting them before himself while making countless sacrifice to provide for his family. Ernest treated everyone that came in contact with him with respect and dignity. He loved to travel, plan family reunions, going to Bolivar basketball games and he loved to cook.

A Time to be Worship
Ernest accepted Christ at a early age and joined Johnson Chapel C.M.E. Church and remained a faithful and dedicated member until his death. He continued to go to church even when he was in pain.
Ernest served as Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, Choir President, Chairman of the Steward Board, Janitor, Church Van Driver, and much more at his home church.
On a district level, he served as Sunday School Superintendent which he help to increase attendance every year he served. He also was the delegate for the General Conference C.M.E. Church. He enjoyed fellowship with other churches all over West Tennessee.

A Time to Weep and A Time to Mourn

His funeral service was held on Sunday March 7, 2021 at 12:00 pm at the Johnson Chapel CME Church with Pastor Larry Hughes in charge with burial in the church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com in charge of the professional service.


Ernest leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife of forty seven years; Mrs. Jackie Taylor Tisdale of Whiteville, TN: three children; Eric (Eneta) Tisdale of Bolivar, TN, Marlon Tisdale of Whiteville, TN, and Harold (Tameka) Spencer of Jackson, TN: a loving mother; Mrs. Varnell Tisdale of Whiteville, TN: two brothers; Eugene (Carmen) Tisdale of Louisville, KY, and David (Beverly) Tisdale of Bolivar, TN: two brother in laws; Raymond Taylor, Sr. of Nashville, TN and Larry (Ruthie) Taylor of Selmer, TN: eleven grandchildren, four of which he raised as his own; Erica (Tay) Woods, Rachel Tisdale, Lamarion Tisdale, and Kennedi Tisdale: ten great grandchildren: a special God daughter whom he called his daughter; Lataria Lindsey: two special cousins whom he called sisters; Ocie (James) Holmes and Gail Giles: four close friends; Reverend Ray Field Murphy, Reverend Jerry McKinnie, U.L. Woods, and Thomas Arnold and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
